Note To Readers Of My Journal/Friending (My Terms Of Service - June 1, 2007)

I have a few thoughts for people reading my LJ. The recent Strikeout07 mess brought on by LJ has led me to place a few more things under friendslock. But, as I and a few other fans found out weeks ago, even your fellow ‘friends’  (even fellow 'fan friends') can be perilous and judgmental and will report things they do not believe should exist (a fan who reported a charity fanzine so that it could not be sold).

So here are my comments. Actually they are more like statements. Or perhaps a manifesto. This post will be updated as future events warrant, so check back here from time to time.

If you do not approve (or feel the burning need to become a one (wo)man Charles Bronson) on any of the following topics, please do not be reading my journal. And for the love of God, do not be asking me to add you to my friends list.

This journal will include discussions* of the following topics:

1. Fan fiction. All kinds, all ratings (NC-17 to PG). Note: there will also be discussion of icky icky things like WingFic, FecundFic, RPS  and (god forgive me), MPREG. Oh and let's not forget BadFic!
2. Fanzines (the kind that are printed and sold). This includes announcements of fanzines that are being sold.
3. Vidding.
4. Discussions of how to vid (which might include methods of how to back up copies of digital media)
5. Filesharing (music or video)
6. Sex (in any forms – both fictional and nonfictional. Sample topics may include non-consenting sex, rape and underage sex. Count on homosexuality of being a topic.
7. Incest (fictional or real)
8. Illness or disability
9. Pornography/erotica
10. Politics
11. Money/Investment
12. Cats
13. Copyright or Intellectual property issues
14. Tasteless and crude jokes.
15. TV shows, movies and books – again ranging from PG-13 to NC-17

And finally, in conclusion, I fully support the right to cheat on your taxes. Just kidding. Because even I know that taxes are serious business and we should not be joking about them.  Srsly! O rly? Ya rly.

*Discussion = discussing. You know, weighing the pros and cons. Maybe even depicting or describing some of the topics. Or including images. Or perhaps a song and dance.  Not necessarily always promoting or encouraging or exercising my amazing powers of mind-control to make you don a pink tutu and start dancing like a chicken (well  perhaps sometimes. Especially the part about you dancing like a chicken).   The emphasis is on discussion - which is - IMHO - a fundamental need and freedom. If you feel the need  to be trampling on our ability to discuss, muse,  depict, wax eloquent, rant, enthuse or just plain babble - again, please do not be reading my LJ.

So what does this mean?

1. You are agreeing that you will keep friends locked posts private and 2. if you see anything (public or private) in my blog that makes you want to sit on my head or call the local the local sheriff to sit on my head (but honestly I really don't get that thing about uniforms), then you will contact me first to let me know your reasoning and maybe give me a chance to reflect on your concerns. Then if I still prove to be an idiot me, well, a wo(man)'s gotta do what she's gotta do .... (but see my caveat below).

3.  If I discover, in the future. that anyone on my reading list has reported me or any of my friends for discussing or mentioning or depicting or describing  any of these topics, I will (a) publicize your name and whatever personal info I can gather on you and (b) take whatever steps I deem necessary. Oh, and in this case there will be no discussion. But there will be promoting of action in the form of encouraging others to do what they deem is necessary. Remember, life is a two way street. And there is oncoming traffic.

The cats thing might be a deal breaker.

Just some of the many, many reasons I'm a happy fan to have you flisted.

Word!

I'm working on a paper about human rights and linguistics, and I believe that freedom of speech is one of the most important rights, it's what makes nations grow.

It's a pity to be living such dark moments. But eventhing is comes and goes in circles, and we'll find peace again. That's my hope.

I added you to my FLIST! (sorry, that's what I named the shortcut on the toolbar, and that's how I always want to type it, because I'm mentally a 12 year old boy and it makes me laugh) for the reasons I usually do--I kept clicking on your damn journal to read it, enough that I figured I ought to make a strike in favor of my extreme lazy.

Your manifesto reminds me why.

The mpreg thing is my fault, isn't it? :D

Dude, you are so doomed. So very very doomed.

But not to worry...I'll be sitting next to you in hell, fanning you while you write more.

I very much agree. And if I come across any pregnant male cats working on their tax returns, I shall ask them to do mine while they're at it (huh, I should be so lucky). I do draw the line at the pink tutu chicken dancing, though .... the chickens do it so much better!

I shall close my eyes and hum loudly while skimming past the MPREG discussion, but I think that I can handle the rest :-)

Singing to the choir. Though I, too, may have problems with the cats thing. Depending on the day and what my two have been up to.

Just saying.

This statment remember me why I want to be here. And how intelligent and articulate you are =D

If I could think of a witty line, now would be the chance to use it, huh? I don't write fic, and meta only sporadically, usually in someone else's LJ comments. But I'm pretty trustworthy. And traffic savvy.

*waves* I've added you to both my LJ and GJ. Not sure what all to say except I completely agree with your terms.

mmm about me, I'm a fangirl, I a very unhealthy love for wincest mpreg. *hangs head in shame*, I am a sucker for happy endings and otp's. While I don't currently have a cat, I used to have one who let me shave him and used to come running when the back massager came on so he could get his massage.

If you can the space I'd love to be added, but no hard feelings if you don't think I'll "fit" .

:)

I have to say that during the whole kerfuffle there were things that disappointed me on both sides of the fence, but you have yet to state an opinion that I didn't understand and respect - whether I agreed with it or not.

I'm sorry that this whole mess has resulted in you feeling that you need to make this post.

Just waving my arms wildly....

The series of events that led to this post started back in early May, just to give you an understanding that was not just one issue or one kerfluffle. But what I am hoping to do with this post is offer my version of warning/labeling to give readers ample opportunity to be adults and manage their own issues/concerns.

How do I know if I disapprove of FecundFic if I don't know what it is? Vigilante campaign is on hold until further information is provided. (Oh, wait. Don't most vigilante campaigns proceed whether they know what they're talking about or not? I fail at being Charles Bronson. 8-(
(Psst. What's FecundFic?)

morgandawn From: morgandawn Date: June 10th, 2007 10:01 pm (UTC) (Link)
FecundFic is some of the most embarrassing fic I;ve ever read. It is like MPREG except is about women getting pregnant by your favorite TV show characters. So deeply embarrassing.....they even have a LJ community.... but I do know people have strong opinions about women having babies so it deserves its own special warning... :-)

I'm a-okay with all of these topics.
